Courses

CTSS songwriting courses are written and developed by Clive Ridgway. Clive was Programme Director of the Cape's #1 radio station Kfm during its peak years. He is the driving force behind legendary country-rock band Rocking Horse and author of Crack The Songwriting Code. Clive's songs have been recorded by many SA stars, including Jonathan Butler, Patricia Lewis, Dr Victor, Kurt Darren, Juanita Du Plessis, Clive Bruce, Judith Sephuma, Rocking Horse, Cheree, The Boyz, Axene, Bobby Angel, Lucas Maree and many more.

The Cape Town School of SONGWRITING offers a unique learning experience based on the principles, practices and processes developed in Clive's book. His signature 8-week / 8 Module songwriting course places the formula for writing hit songs into the hands of aspiring songwriters.

Emerging Songwriters Program

Cover of Emerging Songwriters Program CDSongwriters who complete our basic 8 week course may be selected to participate in our Emerging Songwriters Program. This eight-week part time course is geared towards launching songwriters into the business of songwriting. We examine the writing process in depth and introduce students to important concepts they need to know about intellectual property, copyrights, royalties, publishing and song pitching. The course culminates with each student writing and recording a song which gets showcased on our CTSS Emerging Songwriters CD released at the end of each year.
